JerkishBehavior Music Review: Alicia Keys "Element Of Freedom"
I wasn’t a fan of science class just like Alicia Keys previous albums but I was instantly a fan of the new addition to the periodic table in Alicia Keys latest album “Element Of Freedom”. After hearing the first two singles “Doesn’t Mean Anything” and “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart”, I knew that this was going to be the Alicia Keys album that would win me over. “Element Of Freedom” has a perfect blend of ballads showing off Akeys singing range (the Jay-Z less “Empire State Of Mind” II), tracks that highlight her piano skills (“How Strong My Love Is”), and experimentation of new sounds that show growth in Alicia Keys as an artist (“Love Is Blind” & “This Bed”). The biggest surprise of the album is the first true club/dance banger by Alicia Keys in “Put In A Love Song” which features none other than the queen of club bangers Beyonce, WOW!!! This song if released as a video will take Alicia Keys to whole other stratosphere.
The standout tracks on this album are “Un-Thinkable” f/ Drake (Drake only sings backup vocals which is disappointing because this is the type of song that he would kill) that is a ballad you will most definitely have on repeat. “Wait Til You See My Smile” has instrumentation by a band in the background and Akeys showing off her range on this airy track. The single “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” is still my favorite song on the album for whatever reason I love this song and have to put it on repeat atleast once whenever I hear it (The video with Alicia Keys getting her X-Men on and that purple body suit has most definitely left an indelible mark on my senses). Overall, this is a great album where every song is very enjoyable and has the makings of a classic R&B album. Alicia Keys “Element of Freedom” is most definitely one of the best R&B releases of the year.
Overall 4.5/5*****
Good look fam I think this is your best review yet I gotta check out the album
