The newest inductee into the JerkishBehavior Hall of Fame is the greatest Olympic athlete’s and swimmer of all-time in Michael Phelps. I am not a fan of swimming but I am a fan of legendary greatness so when someone the likes of Michael Phelps comes along, I take notice just like the rest of the world. Michael Phelps has won the most career gold medals ever with 14 and broke the record 36 year old record held by Mark Spitz with 7 for most Olympic gold medals ever won in one Olympic by winning 8. Michael Phelps motivation for accomplishing was not only for history but to prove the doubters wrong that said it couldn’t be done mainly Phelp’s idol in Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe. Michael Phelps kept and looked at the press clippings in his locker every day of Thorpe’s claim that the feat was highly unlikely to be accomplished. The critics’ will never learned that you should never give legends any added motivation to be great. Michael Phelps not only won a record 8 gold medals at one Olympics but he also set world records in all 8 events, BANANAS!!! Michael Phelps has the 2nd most Olympic medals of all-time with 16 (gymnast Larissa Latynina is 1st with 18 total medals) and I am sure he will own the top spot come the 2012 Olympics just by showing up because what’s three medals to a man who has 8 in one Olympics, NOTHING. Michael Phelps owns 54 career medals from multiple swimming competitions. Michael Phelps is 5-time World Swimmer of the Year award winner while also being a 7-time American Swimmer of the Year award winner as well. Michael Phelps also won the coveted Sports illustrated Sportsman of the Year in 2008 for record-breaking Olympic performance. That’s the short and sweet of why Michaels Phelps is the greatest Olympic athlete and swimmer of all-time while not even reaching his prime yet because he is still only 24 years old, CRAZY!!!
